The St. Monica Food Pantry was established in 1969 and has served the needs of the impoverished of Acres Homes for over five decades. The facility is a major distribution outlet for the Houston Food Bank and other charitable foundations.
The St. Monica Food Pantry Operation Hours (Starting May 1, 2026):
Walk-up food distribution on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Drive thru Food Distribution on 1st Friday each month from 8:00am until completion*
Walk-Up Food Distribution on the 3rd Saturday of the month from 9:00am to 11am
*Summer hours begin June 1, 2026

Yes, you must have a scheduled appointment to meet with a caseworker to review your request for rental or utility assistance.

Yes, you must show identification so that it can be confirmed that you reside in the service area.

Identification with current address, most recent copy of bill, receipt(s) of any payments made.

Identification with current address, ledger from office showing balance, receipts of any payments, first page of lease.

Can I pick up the payment for rental or utility assistance?

We will only make payment on behalf of the Neighbor in Need directly to the vendor, and we are not set up to make online payments.

Does the pantry provide furniture?

The only furniture we offer are mattresses and frames, and a home visit must be scheduled to qualify.

The food pantry is open Tuesdays and Thursdays 8 am - 12 pm, 1st Friday 8 am until completion and 3rd Saturday 9 am - 11 am.

If you need help outside of pantry hours, please reach out to local food banks or social services in our area. We can also provide information and referrals during our operating hours.

Donations of non-perishable food items, personal care items, and financial contributions are appreciated. You can drop off donations during pantry hours or contact us for other arrangements.
